Daman is a village in the central part of Nepal, located in the district
of Makwanpur. It is a beautiful hill station near by Capital city
Kathmandu. In the months of summer, people can enjoy travelling Daman.
It is halfway between Kathmandu and Hetauda at 2320m. It has an
unrestricted view of the Himalayas range stretching before it. The
Everest Panorama Resort there has a helipad. A walk around the
surrounding area or a lounging on the one of the resort here is just a
different experience in itself. Rock climbing, cycling, hiking are few
of the many activities possible here. There is couple of accommodation
option for a comfortable stay. One or two local buses and several shared
4WD jeeps head in both directions between Chitwan and Kathmandu or
Pokhara. It's the long way, but worth the effort if you have the time to
spend a day or two in a quiet little village.
The only way to
get around is by foot. There are lots of trails leading towards the
villages around that offer an opportunity to connect with the local
life. Similarly one of the resorts here has bicycle on hire which can
take one on a very interesting downhill ride to Palung Village.
One
of the hotels has a lookout tower with great views on clear mornings of
the Himalayas, with one of the widest panoramas of any viewpoint.
A
Tibetan monastery and temple is about a 30 minute walk through lovely
mountain scenery. Get directions from one of the restaurants or
guesthouses.
Daman has some of the most fantastic views of the
Himalaya. It has a great view of the mountains from Dhaulagiri to Mt
Everest. For the view of the Breath taking grandeur of the world's
highest peaks extending in one glittering are from far-east of
Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest) there is no better place than Daman. There is a
view tower fitted with long range telescopes. Daman can be reached in
four hours from Kathmandu because of mountain highway.
Daman by
car is about three hours from Kathmandu and four hours from Hetauda. It
makes a nice day trip from Kathmandu to come here by car for the day.
